I haven't been to Washington DC in so long that I honestly barely remember ever being there - so when I saw that Twiddle was doing their two night Halloween weekend run at the 9:30 Club, I checked on my airline miles and booked some award travel! Gotta love when you can not only see your husband and his band play before a long month of them being away, but also when you can sightsee in a beautiful city! I got there SUPER early on Friday AM ... basically I arrived at the hotel as they were SETTING UP the continental breakfast (which was phenomenal BTW!). The guys had to practice all day for the shows so I headed over to Georgetown to do my favorite kind of sightseeing - aimlessly wandering and looking at the beautiful architecture. I figured Ryan would want to do all of the monuments together so I planned to save all of that for Saturday!
Everything worked out so perfectly. The rain let up just in time - literally the second I got out of the UBER! I got a chance to walk along the Potomac River and Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, zigzag through the streets to admire Halloween decorations and ogle famous homes, and even randomly ended up at some of the major attractions in Georgetown. I stopped by the Old Stone House, Tudor Place, Dumbarton Oaks and Dumbarton House, The Oak Hill Cemetery, and the home of composer Marvin Hamlisch before heading back for the show.
What did I miss? If you've been to DC and specifically to the Georgetown area let me know so I can check out more sites next time we are in town!
xoxo. Alexandra
PS: Check out these amazing Halloween decorations! They all belong to ONE HOUSE! I was blown away!
