The carefree beach neighborhood of Seaside looks like it is straight out of a movie - because it is! The Truman Show was filmed here, and you can immediately recognize the perfect pastel houses, white picket fences and manicure lawns that Truman Burbank "grew up" in. You can walk or bike anywhere, and the town is filled with restaurants, art galleries and boutique shops. An outdoor amphitheater is often the site of concerts in the summer and Seaside's famous airstream trailers provide an abundance of goodies from donuts to grilled cheese to BBQ! If you're feeling fancy, Seaside is the home of some award-winning restaurants like Great Southern Café and Bud & Alley's.
EAT
Great Southern Café: For a delicious Southern style breakfast, Great Southern Café is the place to go in Seaside. While they are also open for lunch and dinner, the fried green tomatoes, smoked Gouda cheese grits, and bacon and pecan waffles are crowd favorites and keep the crowds coming back! Make sure to get their early and get on the wait list! (Visit their website HERE)
Bud & Alley's: Over the years since it’s opening in 1987 Bud & Alley’s has expanded to offer a taco bar with outdoor seating and a delicious menu complete with fresh fish tacos (my favorite!) and a pizza bar with authentic wood-fired artisan pizza. Catch the sunset from the Rooftop Bar while enjoying some grub and a local beer like the 30A Beach Blonde Ale!
The Meltdown: One of Seaside's famous airstream trailers, The Meltdown offers a variety of grilled cheese combinations that you probably never even thought to put together! How can you turn down a Cuban McConnell - complete with gruyère, pulled pork, pickles, Billy’s mustard sauce, brown bag ham?!
SHOP
Cabana By The Seaside Style: This open-air market on the beachside in Seaside houses curated treasures from jewelry to clothing to shoes. You’re sure to find fashion suitable for day or evening in this glamorous beach town.
Ophelia’s Swimwear: Ophelia’s always has the latest styles in swimsuits and stylish beachwear like tunics, hats and scarves. New designers are constantly being featured.
The Seaside Style: The official lifestyle brand of Seaside, Florida. You definitely have to stop in and get your souvenir Seaside sweatshirt or tee. I got the signature baby blue sweatshirt for myself! Plus, they have a ton of goodies you can pick up for friends and even for your dog!
ENJOY
Walking: Seaside is another town where beauty awaits on every corner. Strolling past the unique beach pavilions and quaint houses was so much fun (especially seeing the Truman Show house!). Plus the square with all of the shops and airstream trailers is super cute!
Biking: The Timpoochee Trail is an 18-mile pathway that connects many of the beach neighborhoods along Scenic 30A. There are plenty of bikes to rent and you can keep them for your entire trip or just for the day.
Kayaking: There are many beautiful state parks and dune lakes to kayak in, or you can head right into the gulf! Many days the water is calm and you can see dolphins, sea turtles and other sea creatures! If you head into Grayton Beach State Park you can even paddle straight from the Western Lake into the Gulf!
Stand-Up Paddleboarding: The calm, smooth waters of the dune lakes along Scenic 30A are perfect for stand-up paddleboarding. I even saw people paddling out into the gulf when the waves weren't too big. You can rent a board and even take lessons if it's your first time.
Yoga: Yoga studios dot the drive from Panama City Beach to Miramar Beach, offering indoor classes and outdoor sessions on the sand. If you're feeling adventurous you can even practice your flow on top of a stand-up paddleboard!
